Dr. Rhia in Dr. Rhia, children, education, family, special needs

Today I find myself wondering why we so often ask children to do things that make no sense at all. For example, take a look at the following first grade work sheet.

I have a Ph.D. but honestly don't know what the forecast is when someone in shorts and a short-sleeved t-shirt carries an unplugged fan through a field. I think Ben's answer of 'We don't have a clue' is brilliant. As teachers and parents, wouldn't it be great if we only asked children to do things that make sense?

Now that could change the face of education as we know it!
