Keeping it Real

Please Stumble this post (or share any way you can)

and remember to download the FREE book for 7-10 yer olds on my website.

Don't you just love those times when something happens to make your pride take a back seat?

There's an old smugglers trail between Brunei and Sarawak, Borneo. If I remember correctly, it's about 6 miles long and about half of it is on felled tree trunks laid head to toe...over leech-infested swamps. There's an Iban longhouse around the halfway point and members of this community are always ready to offer rice wine should you choose to stop there for a while (though trying to balance on the tree trunks after the rice wine can be very treacherous).

I walked that trail quite frequently during my time in Borneo and remember being proud when I could walk the tree-trunks without falling into the swamp. But that pride was short-lived when people from the longhouse overtook my friends and I...and they were carrying wicker furniture on their backs!

Being proud of our accomplishments is important; but equally important is to keep our pride steeped in reality. Do you agree?

Be proud of yourself

but also keep it real.
