***Urgent***Urgent***Urgent***

A few hours ago I posted a message saying that if you're being robbed at an ATM (Cashpoint) machine, typing your PIN backward not only gives you the required money but also summons the police. Lawrence, one of my readers, messaged me saying that the claim is a scam.

Upon further research, I find that Lawrence is correct and thank him for telling me so that I might correct my error. Although there's some investigation to the possibility of incorporating the backward PIN as an SOS, no banks currently have instigated the system.

I alologize profusely to my readers for having misled you; I should have known better than to share something before researching the claim.

Dr. Rhia:

I'm afraid that's not true (althought i would be nice if it were). Check out Snopes at http://www.snopes.com/business/bank/pinalert.asp and Urban Legends at http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_reverse_pin.htm.
