Education 102
Today I find myself wondering why we so often ask children to do things that make no sense at all. For example, take a look at the following first grade work sheet.
I have a Ph.D. but honestly don't know what the forecast is when someone in shorts and a short-sleeved t-shirt carries an unplugged fan through a field. I think Ben's answer of 'We don't have a clue' is brilliant. As teachers and parents, wouldn't it be great if we only asked children to do things that make sense?
Now that could change the face of education as we know it!

HA ha loved this . I immediately thought that the boy with a fan meant it was going to be hot therefore the fan could cool down the boy or whoever would be with him . BUT then i thought "what the " Unless there was a power point in the side of a tree >>>>>>>>.DUH. Then i thought maybe it was because the boy with a kite didn't have enough wind !!!!! OK Do not even go there, I thought of that too lol. And finally i thought if the boy was near a beach he could attach the fan to his surf board plus a generator and use it to propel himself on the board across the water. Now I am getting ridiculous . Could it have been a trick question to see what answers the person doing the test came up with ??????????
Hi Brian. Good to hear from you. Your ideas made me laugh...talk about thinking outside of the box! I can't imagine it would have been a trick question for six-year-olds but you never know!
